Why Ireland

Why Ireland

Ireland is a hub for innovation, technology – and the funds required for the transition to a global low-carbon economy. Sustainable Nation accelerates that transition by stimulating smart business and responsible investment with talent, knowledge and vision.

Some of the biggest names in world finance have chosen Ireland in which to domicile their sustainable and responsible funds and the list is growing. These firms include Hermes, Ownership Capital, Generation, Sarasin and Sonen Capital.

BlackRock Renewable Power, Brookfield Renewable, Greencoat Capital, Kleinwort Benson Investors and Ireland’s Strategic Investment Fund are amongst an emerging cluster managing capital, guided by responsible and sustainable investment principles.

Added to this, Irish businesses are looking overseas where their expertise is helping to finance, develop and construct sustainable and low carbon projects at scale. This growing cluster of over 650 enterprise firms is creating scale, world-beating solutions and winning investment in the billions. Progressive companies such as Glen Dimplex, Kingspan, OpenHydro and Mainstream Renewable Power are recognised as industry leaders, underpinning Ireland’s emergence as a leading low carbon enterprise hub.

In combining investment and enterprise expertise, Ireland has become a location of choice for funds domiciled, managed or deployed into low carbon enterprises; all are underpinned by responsible and sustainable investment principles. With such investments currently at €40 billion, by 2021 Sustainable Nation has a target of mobilising this to €250 billion in support of the domestic and international low carbon economy.
