The United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Initiative is an international network of investors working together to put the six Principles for Responsible Investment into practice. Its goal is to understand the implications of sustainability for investors and support signatories to incorporate these issues into their investment decision-making and ownership practices.

The Global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA) brings together a global network of 50 clusters, 10,000 companies to make local, global. It creates a global collaboration system to drive sustainable and open regional economic development, and has a goal to create a scalable financial mechanism that allows Cleantech clusters and companies to engage with institutional investors. The annual GCCA Awards identify leading cleantech companies. Five Irish companies have won GCCA Awards, including Cylon, Open Hydro, Imperative Energy, Hanley Energy and Fenestra Pro.

Green Bonds enable capital-raising and investment for new and existing projects with environmental benefits. Recent activity indicates that the market for Green Bonds is developing rapidly. The Green Bond Principles (GBP), updated as of March 2015, are voluntary process guidelines that recommend transparency and disclosure and promote integrity in the development of the Green Bond market by clarifying the approach for issuance of a Green Bond.
