ClimateLaunchPad

ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest cleantech business idea competition. It is an initiative of Climate-KIC, the European Union’s cleantech enterprise platform. Sustainable Nation is Climate-KIC’s Irish partner.

If you have a green business idea and have what it takes to become an entrepreneur, register! Your idea can be an innovation in energy, water or waste tech, a sustainable transition in the food chain, a mind shift in urban mobility or any other way to tackle climate change and create a low carbon future. This could mean that you are an early start-up, SME, researcher, student, public organisation, consultancy, engineering company or a combination of these. It does not need to be high tech, but it does need to have a positive impact on the environment.

Our competition is your ticket to European and global success, and we are now open for applicants. Submit your application here.

If selected you will participate in a pre-accelerator, which includes a 2 Day Bootcamp and 6 coaching sessions, helping you create a solid business plan. Connect with a national network of national and European network of mentors, funders and like-minded individuals. Three Irish finalists will pitch at the European finals in Estonia in Oct 2016.

2°Catalyst by Skillnet

Providing a range of support structures for early stage companies that provide technologies, products and services that deliver resource efficiency and low-carbon outcomes, the 20Catalyst Programme supports early-stage cleantech and sustainability related companies to continue their growth curve.

Taking place over a 6 month period, commencing June 2016 and incorporating both formal and informal learning opportunities, 20Catalyst is an applied-programme and supports senior management teams to acquire the knowledge and guidance that they require to develop a company-specific investment strategies, business models and business plans.

Participants will also receive individual business mentoring to apply new insights gained within their own company and maximise the application of learning.

20Catalyst complements a new funding mechanism to enable capability enhancement for accelerated growth at a vital stage of business development. It establishes an ecosystem of non-financial supports to de-risk new solutions and shorten pathways to market.

2° Lab

The ability to test and validate new products or services at all stages of development is vital. Sustainable Nation manages and has access to a number of special projects that provide test-bed platforms for companies wishing to trial and commercialise their solutions. In developing this platform, our objective is to shorten the path to market for commercial and non-commercial solutions by matchmaking opportunities. Our approach is guided by our Handbook for Living Labs.

Test-sites potentially include Dublin Docklands, DIT Grangegorman campus development and the Wiser Project.

Sustainable Nation (as The Green Way) has form in successfully working with Irish industry to facilitate test-bedding activities. A tangible example of this activity is our work with Glen Dimplex, one of Ireland’s leading companies. This activity focused on deploying and testing Glen Dimplex storage heaters which tested the demand-side potential of storage heaters – more details of this trial can be found here.

Climate KIC

Sustainable Nation is the lead partner of the Climate-KIC Ireland HUB.

Climate-KIC is Europe’s largest public-private innovation partnership focused on climate change, consisting of dynamic companies, the best academic institutions and the public sector.
